Why do we include a zero waste guide in the app? ♻️

A European citizen produces around 500 kg of rubbish every year (1100 lb). This crazy amount of waste has to be collected by trucks, emitting a lot of CO2.

Waste is often incinerated, emitting CO2, dioxins and many harmful and toxic molecules.

When rubbish is not incinerated, it is often put in landfills, emitting methane, causing acid rain and the pollution of oceans and rivers...

In Europe, only 30 % of the plastic is recycled, the rest is land-filled (31%) and the remaining majority is incinerated (39 %). Plastic, unlike glass or metal, cannot be recycled infinitely.

Why do we include simple & delicious vegetarian recipes? 😋

Farmed livestock like cows produce large amounts of methane, an important greenhouse gas with a global warming potential of 34 compared to CO2 (potential of 1). As a result, livestock farming represents 14 % of greenhouse gas emissions, uses about 70% of agricultural land and is one of the leading causes of deforestation, biodiversity loss and water pollution.

Water issue

According to IME, 1 kg of beef (2,2 lb) consumes approximately 15 000 litres of water (2 640 gallons). The same amount of pork consumes approximately 6 000 litres (1 580 gallons) while 1 kg of rice consumes 2500 litres (660 gallons) of water and vegetables like tomatoes or cabbage need less than 300 litres (80 gallons).

Animal suffering

NGO’s like L214 have reported many animal abuse like cannulated cows or have revealed images of slaughterhouse’s employees bleeding a cow while it shows signs of consciousness. The only way to make sure this doesn't happen anymore, is to stop eating meat!

What about technology?

Did you know that your digital activity also has a carbon footprint? The app will include many tips to help you reduce your digital carbon footprint. Why don’t we Netflix and chill in a sustainable way!
